Lewis and Harris consists of as much water in the form of fresh water lochs as dry land. These lochs contain wild brown trout which provide excellent sport. They are almost all free to fish. Stornoway Golf Club is situated on the outskirts of the town and is a testing 18 hole course. There is also a 9 hole course at Scarista on the Isle of Harris. Day or weekly tickets are available for both courses.
